Birdwatching

Jim Corbett is a paradise for migratory birds and an important habitat for the birds endemic to it. 580 species of birds have been identified so far and the list doesn’t end. This makes it an Important Bird Area aka IBA by the Birdlife International, an eminent organization for bird conservation.

Rather or along the regular safaris, some birdwatching tours can be organized on the six majorly recognized trails. Majority of these trails are in Dhikala Zone only.

> Haati Dangar

This zone falls in the Bijrani zone. It is so named because of the Haathi Dangar river that flows beside it. Some of the birds that can be spotted here include the Indian peafowl, gray hornbill, crested serpent eagle, and various species of woodpeckers.

> Forest Rest Houses

However, if your interests are actually in exploring wildlife, we recommend you book a Forest Rest House. These are the colonial era buildings that were built by Britishers to serve as their hunting lodges. Their architecture is indeed splendid.

And when a stay in a hundred year old building comes through a waiting list, it is no less of an achievement. This is indeed a privilege of the selected few.

You would find the interior very simple. You would have choices between single rooms, double bedded rooms and dormitories.

> Benefits of staying in an FRH

It is easy to understand. You just stay near the jungle. You’re all ready for the safari. Staying away means the time wasted in conveyance. Plus, the actual feeling of staying in a forest away from all the noises of the city.

How to Book?

Some FRHs can be booked both offline and online, some only online while some only offline.

In the case of online booking, many people might need additional help. We can offer such a service.

In the case of offline booking, we can save you one visit and can book one for you.

Also, there are cases where some rooms are unlisted. Being locals, we are in touch of such updates and can book for you if there’s any such availability.
